Motion Sickness
Virtualis offers a set of software dedicated specifically to the treatment of Motion Sickness or Kinetosis. The different modules each respond to a sensory conflict involved in the mechanisms that trigger kinetosis.
A simulation in ecological environments and the multi-sensory immersion provided by virtual reality allow the patient to desensitize himself at his own pace, in a space where he feels safe and this, in all simplicity, from the office or the Rehabilitation Centre.
What they say about it...
"Using Virtualis virtual reality software on a daily basis, my work is greatly facilitated by the simplicity of the interfaces and the multiple choice of applications that allow me to adapt to the very diverse complaints of visual dependency such as motion sickness. The results obtained are surprising, both in speed of appearance and in stability. »
O. Dumas, Physiotherapist, Lyon, France
A precise answer adapted to your daily life:
- Assessment and rehabilitation software designed by an internationally recognized expert in kinetosis [See Founder's career path].
- Participative development with the involvement of all users
- Scientific collaboration with a team of international specialists (Pr Hannes Petersen, Dr Stéphane Besnard, etc...)
- True sensory immersion simulating the physical presence of the patient in an environment with which he or she can interact
- Situational setting in a safe context for the patient
- Reduced apprehension through progressive exposure
- Constant and precise adaptation according to the patient's progress
- Increased patient motivation thanks to the immersive side of the system
- Patient's work in an autonomous way possible (controlled)
VIRTUAL REALITY, A REAL BENEFIT FOR YOUR PATIENTS:
Some of the exercises available in the BalanceVR offer:
Car Simulation
Software for the rehabilitation of sensory conflicts involved in the trigger mechanisms of motion sickness in cars. The treatment is done by exposure/accustoming to driving: regaining gesture and coordination in driving and also as a passenger. 3 gradually provocative circuits of kinetosis.
Indications: Kinetosis in the car (passenger), inability to read in the car, inability to be a passenger.
Example of a possible exercise:
Conditioning first as a driver on circuit 1 (single), then gradually as a passenger. At each change of circuit difficulty, depending on the patient's tolerance, a start as a driver may be suggested.
Sea Simulation
Rehabilitation of sensory conflicts involved in the triggering mechanisms of motion sickness at sea: naupathies.
Realistic and immersive marine simulation module allowing independent adjustment of wave height and frequency, parameters most involved in naupathies.
Indications: Sea sickness (naupathy)
Example of a possible exercise:
Possibility to be subjected, on a boat, to the movements of the waves and also to steer the boat.
Waves (Sway Referenced)
Rehabilitation of advanced sensory conflicts involved in the triggering mechanisms of motion sickness: naupathy.
Maritime simulation module with wave slaving to the head movements of the patient who no longer visually perceives his movement.
Indications: All forms of kinetosis
Example of a possible exercise:
The patient will be seated in a rotating chair (or swivel chair) and will be rotated by the therapist while watching the movement of the waves.
Reading (Sway referenced)
Treatment of motion sickness: reading in transport.
Module allowing progressive habituation/exposure to reading in the car, the visuo-vestibular conflict most involved in the occurrence of kinetosis. Habituation allows tolerance to not see the road while being able to read in the car and also reading in a boat cabin.
Indications: Car sickness
Example of a possible exercise :
The patient will be installed on a rotating chair (or swivel chair) and will be rotated by the therapist. With the joystick in hand, he will read a virtual book with different counts (or short stories) of varying length.
ElevatorVR
Software for the rehabilitation of sensory conflicts involved in the mechanisms that trigger acrophobia.
Realistic module for the use of an elevator allowing active desensitization of the patient who has to walk on a catwalk over the void and face his acrophobia. The parameters of the application are adjustable in real time to adapt to the patient's reactions.
Indications : Acrophobia (fear of heights), vertigo of heights.
Example of a possible exercise:
The patient will have to climb into the lift, gradually from a few metres to more than 400m, then will have to get out onto a catwalk (adjustable length and width) to grasp an object.
